Our Zero-Data-Liability Philosophy

Reclaim The Day is intentionally architected so that we do not host a central database, do not store your calendar events on our servers, and do not track your family's personal schedules. The calendar synchronization engine runs 100% within your own personal Google Account via Google Apps Script. Your private data never touches Reclaim The Day servers.

1. Overview

Reclaim The Day ("we," "our," or "us") operates https://reclaimthe.day and provides the Reclaim The Day Family Calendar Sync application. This Privacy Policy describes how your information is handled when you visit our website or use our calendar synchronization service.

2. Google API Services & User Data Policy

Our application connects directly with Google Calendar APIs to deliver automated schedule synchronization into your shared Google Family Calendar.

Google Limited Use Disclosure:

Reclaim The Day's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, here is how Google user data is accessed, used, and protected:

  • Requested Scopes: We request access to Google Calendar (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar) solely to interact with the destination calendar you explicitly choose.
  • Calendar Discovery: The application queries your Google Calendar list solely to display your available calendars (e.g., your primary personal calendar or shared "Family" calendar) in the dropdown selector so you can choose where events should be synced.
  • Event Reading (Duplicate Prevention): The application reads existing events on your selected destination calendar exclusively to verify whether a sports game or school event has already been added, preventing duplicate calendar entries.
  • Event Creation & Modification: The application creates new calendar events from your configured public iCalendar/ICS feeds, updates event details (such as rescheduled game times or field changes), and automatically removes canceled or rained-out games.
  • No External Transfer: Under no circumstances is any calendar data, event detail, attendee list, or personal information transmitted, stored, or copied to any external server, third party, or marketing platform.

3. How and Where Data Is Stored

Because of our Zero-Data-Liability architecture:

  • Your Feeds & Preferences: Your connected schedule feed URLs (e.g., SportsEngine, TeamSnap, or school district webcal links) and settings are stored entirely within your personal Google account's encrypted UserProperties storage.
  • Calendar Events: All synchronized events reside exclusively in your personal Google Calendar.
  • Website Hosting: The marketing website hosted on Vercel serves static files (HTML, CSS, images) and contains no backend database that collects or retains personal information.

4. No Data Selling, Advertising, or AI Training

We believe family and children's sports schedules are deeply private.

  • We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your personal data or calendar events.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or commercial third parties.
  • We do not use your calendar data, event descriptions, or schedules to train artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning models.

5. User Control & Data Deletion

You maintain 100% control over your data at all times:

  • Delete Any Feed: You can remove any connected schedule at any time directly through the sync interface. When removing a feed, you can choose whether to keep or automatically purge all associated events from your Google Calendar.
  • Revoke App Access: You can completely disconnect and revoke our access to your Google account at any time by visiting your Google Security Dashboard at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Once revoked, the sync engine immediately ceases execution and cannot access your Google account.

6. Security

Because the application executes within Google Apps Script, all execution, authentication, and data transmission are protected by Google's world-class security infrastructure and SSL/TLS encryption. We never request or handle your Google account password.
